The subject of the still life is unique. Maybe it is just me, but the combination of a nude sculpture, apples and a nude magazine cause me to think of Eve and temptation.
Wade Zint Bio:
His work in the motion picture industry was hand lettering titles for motion pictures and backgrounds. He also did backgrounds for The Pageant of the Masters (around 1946 or so) in Laguna Beach, that is still a well known event every summer. He also did a 40 foot diorama (desert) for the Palm Springs Art Museum. He was close friends with other fine artists such as Burt Procter, Russell Roberts, Will Foster, Leon Franks and Rex Brandt. Russ Roberts, Leon Franks and my father would meet weekly in Hollywood at Will Fosters studio where they painted nude models. All of them fine painters, they also worked in commercial art. Besides his paintings of figures and nudes, my father created marine, landscape, and still-life paintings. My father sold many of his paintings and exhibited them in his own gallery in Laguna as well as other area galleries. Biography from the Archives of askART Born in Santa Barbara, California on March 20, 1910, Zint worked as an artist in the motion picture industry while living in Hollywood. He got his start at Columbia Studios and then worked for several major studios. Upon retirement in 1945, he settled in Laguna Beach where he was often a judge at local art shows. As well as painting nudes and portraits, he also designed and built homes, sailed, and took up tennis at age 60. Zint died in Laguna Beach, California on May 23, 1990
