 This high quality coarse filter sponge is designed for water filtration in fresh/salt aquarium and ponds. It effectively removes particulate matter mechanically. It also adds a supplemental means for removal of ammonia by providing more surface area for growth of beneficial bacteria. Buy in bulk and cut your own size filter pads to use on a variety of water filtration applications. This coarse sponge is specifically manufactured for aquarium and pond use. The larger inner surface area is ideal for beneficial biological bacteria to colonize. The reticulated structural design also provides better water flow and has less chance to clog.

The open cell sponge is specifically manufactured for aquarium and pond use which has larger inner surface area for growing beneficial biological colonies. The reticulated structure also provides better water flow rate and less chance of clog.

 

You can use it in any aquarium or pond filter, sump, wet/dry, canister, power filter and etc., and/or for your HMF DIY project.  It can be cut and trimmed easily to any size with a utility knife.

 

The size of pores is measured in pores per inch (PPI).  The sponge with higher PPI has more pores. More pores means larger biological filtration capacity but less water flow through rate, and it needs to be cleaned more often.  It is recommended to use combination of sponges with different PPI to get the best filtration results.


• 40 PPI is more porous, 20 PPI is less porous
