English Victorian painter, illustrator Sir Francis B. Dicksee who was born into a family of artists, began his career as a book illustrator and designer of stained-glass windows. Elected President of the Royal Academy in 1924, the year before he was knighted, Dicksee is best known for his depictions of historical and legendary scenes, and of fashionable women.
