This is a very rare find indeed, an ancient Sukhothai terracotta Buddhist inscribed rattling votive amulet relic excavated near present day Sukhothai Thailand and then used by Buddhist monks... we can see gold leaf that was placed on the amulet by monks and/or believers during worship. I have included more info about the Sukhothai Kingdom below. Buddhist amulets like this were commonly kept by Buddhist monks and believers in the dwellings or on their person for use in devotionals.This piece rattles when it is moved. It contains a small stone inside which is referred to the Heart of the Buddha. It also contains a Buddhist Sutra inscribed on the rear side of the amulet.
