This is a very nice old Kayan Hill Tribe Long Neck Marionette Puppet that I was found during a recent visit to the Golden Triangle region. Before the advent of television, puppets like this were very popular and played a crucial role in culture and religion throughout Southeast Asia and beyond. This rare piece depicts a member of the Kayan Hill Tribe who are famous for the rings they wear which makes them appear to have long necks.
