An original antique map of NORTH WALES (A general Mapp (sic) of North Wales) by Richard Blome. Published c1673 in Blome's Britannia. The map is framed (490x400mm) and unmounted with later hand colour. It is significantly larger than Blome's maps of individual counties and is highly decorative.  It includes the arms of Sir Richard Wynne, Robert Viscount Bulkeley, Sir Roger Mostyn, Sir Thomas Middleton, John Lloyd and Edward Lord Herbert. There is in addition two sailing ships and an elaborate title cartouche with putti. The map which was originally folded (both horizontally and vertically) is blank on the reverse side and does not appear to be laid down.  The map's lower edge has been re-margined (just outside the plate mark) and there appear to be one or two small tears that have been repaired. The overall condition of the map is good. This map is less common than Blome's county maps, possibly because being folded, fewer have survived.  NB the map will be posted out-of-frame to international buyers. Check out my other items!
