To see the color flash the stones must be fractured, broken, cut or polished so that the correct angle is showing. Even with the proper angle showing you will still need to view the stone from the proper angles to see the blue or full rainbow of colors in the stones. When cutting or polishing this type of stone you have to be very careful to make sure the angles are accurate or you will not end up with a color flash in the finished piece. While some of the rough stones can show a color flash right out of the bag, we have found that once cut almost all stones have a top color flash with the piece being able to be used in very high end jewelry. We tested this by having a professional lapidary cut 50 random pieces from this exact batch of material. Once cut they found 44 pieces displayed a top flash across the whole surface, 3 pieces had a good but not top flash, and the remaining 3 pieces did not show a very large amount of flash. While this is what they found in the random pieces they cut, they are masters in their field and know exactly how to polish this type of material. Depending on your skill level your results may vary since this is one of the more difficult materials to cut and polish. The last thing we want you to be aware of is for those not familiar with the unit of measure of carats. Picture the size of a 1 carat diamond ring and you can see that a quantity of 50 carats will only be a few stones, while ordering a pound which is over 2200 carats will contain a very large number of stones.
