A nice real photo postcard depicting Ada, Ohio, fire destroyed building, c. 1913. Great image, postmark is 1913, author of the card notes the fire had occurred yesterday (still smoldering) which is amazing how quickly the card was printed, author also notes that the building housed the library societies office and the chapel hall and organ. Ada was originally called Johnstown, and under the latter name was platted in 1853 by S. M. Johnson when the railroad was extended to that point. Ada became the name of the community's post office, after the postmaster's daughter, Ada. A post office called Ada has been in operation since 1854. Ada has been noted for having one of the shortest place names in Ohio.
