I'm offering for your consideration a beautiful mosaic inlaid stick pin or hat pin, which is in the form of an Apache Gan Dancer, or Gahn Dancer, also called a Mountain Spirit Dancer and a Crown Dancer. It's nicely inlaid with old brown shell, abalone, coral. jet and clean Sleeping Beauty turquoise. There is hand twisted wire at the neck and there are hand made raindrops which are individually hand applied for the necklace and to adorn the points of the crown. This piece appears exactly in one of the books, so that author thinks it's terrific. I think it is, too!

There is a slight crimp at the point of the stick pin, which could easily be filed so it's properly pointy; it's a minor issue and the pin also isn't completely straight and can easily be straightened. Otherwise the piece is in excellent vintage condition. There are no problems with the stones or inlay and it's a lovely pin. It can be worn on a hat, a collar, or on a shirt or even a handbag. The face is about 1-1/4" (3.18 cm) High by 3/4" (1.9 cm) Wide and the pin is about 3-3/8" (8.57 cm) long and weighs about 4.4 grams. It's not marked for silver content, which is usual for those times, but it's sterling silver. The piece is hallmarked with the initials VL for Vera Luna, who is one of the most acclaimed Zuni silversmiths. If you are starting a collection or adding to one, this is a real "find" of Zuni art which you will treasure. It's terrific.
