The work is signed in Latin Samuel Zulkis and dated 66 on the lower left corner. This Zulkis measures sight 28 cm x 39 cm (11” x 15.35"). Framed 44 cm x 56 cm (17.32" x 22"). Samuel Zulkis, Painter. b.1914, Berlin. Immigrated to Eretz Israel 1933. Died 1995.
Specialized in restoration of oil-paintings and graphics.
1944 - 1960: established a school for art together with the illustrator Elizabeth Herman from Vienna ("Zulkis-Herman studio").
Dr. Samuel Zulkis began to paint in his early teens. He received his education in Berlin, Germany, where he studied painting, history of art, medicine and philosophy.
He settled in Israel (Palestine) in 1933 and soon established an art studio where he worked and taught the art of painting to many advanced students. He exhibited his work with success in Israel and Europe.
