Here is a fine green stone pectoral amulet of stylized anthropomorphic form.

This mask/amulet/pendant measures 4.5” (11.4cm) x 3.25” (8.2cm) x 2” (5 cm)

(unmounted) and 5.5” (14cm) overall height, mounted on the stand included in sale.

There are two small inscriptions; ”1515” and “Guerrero” written in black ink on the reverse.

The bilaterally-drilled suspension perforation near the top of the head indicates that despite this amulet’s massive size and hefty weight of nearly 1.5 lbs (.68 kilos), it served as a talismanic pectoral for the living or as a mortuary bundle attachment for a deceased personage of high rank.

Mezcala artisans created highly stylized stone figures and masks, as is clearly evident in this impressive example.

Without chips, cracks, scratches, repairs or restoration, this compelling abstract sculpture is in excellent condition.
