An original antique map of COUNTY DURHAM (Episcopatus Dunelmensis) by Johan Blaeu. Published in 1645 and later in Blaeu's Atlas Novus and Atlas Maior. The map is unframed, unmounted, printed on good quality paper, has contemporary hand colour and is untrimmed. It has Spanish text verso. Features of the map include: three coats-of-arms (including the royal arms and the arms of the Bishop of Durham); decorative title cartouche with pastoral figures and lambs; mileage scale; and three sailing ships. The map is in excellent condition.
