First of all, Robert Davey's work is highly sought after. Especially the early paintings. His works are prominently displayed in important collections world wide. Most notably the collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, where he exhibited in numerous major shows. Davey was born in San Francisco and studied at the California School of Fine Arts under noted painter Don Kingman. His early paintings are known for their simplicity and subtle use of color. Davey had an art gallery in Carmel until his death in 1994. This particular painting has been in our family for two generations. And it is time to pass it on to the next curator. The framed work measures 17 by 15 inches. The actual painting measures 8 by 10 inches. This particular work should really be housed in a museum. It is that rare and that good. Enough said. It needs to be loved and well taken care of, as my family has for its stay with us. We love it dearly and want it to find a new home where it will be cherished.
