An original antique ribbon map by John Sennex of the road from London to Carlisle (section between Darlaston Bridge (Staffs) and Garstang (Lancs)). First published in 1719. This edition is probably 1757 (plate 39). Copper-engraved, mounted, framed (310x270mm in-frame, image area 235x185mm) and hand-coloured. The road route passes through Newcastle-under-Lyme, Warrington, Wigan and Preston. The map is in excellent condition.
