You are viewing a book titled "Transactions of the Illinois State Horticultural Society for the Year 1946 (Including Proceedings of the Ninety-First Convention Held at Springfield, ILL, December 9, 10, 11, 1946), Also Membership and Proceedings of the Northern District Society, Central District Society and Southern District Society for the Year 1946, Volume LXXX"), Edited by the Secretary, C. C. Mast and published by The Illinois State Horticultural Society, in 1947. The book has plain dark brown hardback covers and spine. The spine has gold letters on the upper part that I believe say "Illinois Horticultural Society" (ink has faded). The lower part of the spine has gold lettering which says "1946, Vol 80."  This is the only wording anywhere on the covers or spine. The book measures 8 3/8 inches tall by 5 3/4 inches wide with 293 pages of Contents, List of Members, text and Index. There is also a 32 page (with illustrations) section titled "Pest Control in Commercial Fruit Plantings."

The outside appearance of this book is very good. As mentioned above, the gold lettering at the top of the spine has faded and there are a couple of very small white spots on the front and back covers. All cover corners are in excellent condition with no wear or cardboard showing. Both the extreme top and bottom of the spine are in excellent condition with no wear or fraying showing. The binding of the book is very strong, but does show some wear at the front of the book. All pages are secure and intact. There is a very small ink mark on the next to last page in the book, but other than that, I could not find any writing in the book or torn or bent pages. There is some age fading of the pages in the book, but no staining. Overall, the condition of the book is very good to excellent, especially since this book is 78 years old.
