These BSA Pinewood Derby Speed Axles are precision-made to replicate the official BSA nail. Axles are round with no burrs or crimp marks. Axle head has a small taper to have less contact and reduces friction with outside wheel hub. Axles are Highly Polished. Axle head is round and centered on shaft.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Pinewood Derby BSA Wheels are machined.  Wheels and Axles are polished and prepped for a set of  Ready to Race BSA Wheels and Axles. BSA wheels are machined on a lathe. Outside tread surface machined so that tread runs true to the Bore. Other parts of wheel (outer hub Diameter) is  machined to reduce axle drag for a faster wheel. Coined edge left for inspection. Wheels are then Prepped inside of bore and out side tread surface and other points of contact with track to reduce friction for a faster car.   Wheels are then prepped with my special Graphite. Graphite is worked into the bore for a Fast Race Ready wheel. This prep is really time consuming but worth it on Raceday.  Lighter wheels start faster for faster times because of less rotational inertia. Lettering and numbers are not removed from wheel.
Wheel width is not machined because that is inspected at Race check in. Do not get disqualified  at check in inspection for narrow wheels that have been machined to true up edge. Most Pack rules do not allow this modification. .  Lighter wheels start faster for faster times because of less rotational inertia.

Rail Rider Axle bends - Two Axles are bent to 2.5 degrees for the Rear wheels, One Axle is straight for a raised wheel, One Axle is bent to 1.5 degrees for front dominant wheel.  Axles are marked with a small line (not a marker) on head for ease of alignment. If you do not want a small line on the axle head, I can use a marker, just let me know.  Lettering and numbers are not removed from wheel.
