The Real Canvas repair patches.
These patches are the main canvas used in Australian manufactured CANVAS products.
Suitable for use on any fabric that SILICONE sealant adheres to
Polyester/Cotton blend canvas waterproofed.
Polyester for strength and Cotton to hold the waterproofing.
Please Note: This is patches only, no glue is supplied,
read instructions at the end of these details.

Heavy Duty : used in Canopies, Tarpaulins, Awnings, Caravan Annexes, Horse Rugs etc.
280gsm (8 oz sqy)
Medium weight: used mainly in Tents, Awnings, Covers. Camper Canvas etc.

We often get repairs in the factory that have been temporarily fixed with a bonding hard setting glue (eg; like laminex glue),
That means we have to remove the part with the glue creating a much bigger repair.
If large quantities are required, ask for a quote.
Instructions for use:
This method may not work in high stress areas, That may require sewing.
You will need a tube(s) of clear SILICONE sealant (eg:glass or gutter) and an applicator. (Gun)
Stretch area around damage but keep ripped edges together in original position using removable sticky tape on the other side.
(Quite often there are threads (weaving) destroyed, allow the space for those.)
Clean the area the size of the patch of loose substances and dirt using water and a light brushing action.
DO NOT SCRUB HARD, it may destroy the fabric.
(DO NOT USE soap or detergent, it will remove the original waterproofing and the colour).
Most Australian waterproofed canvas has the colour in the waterproofing, creating protection against the sun AND waterproof the fabric.
Let it dry thoroughly.
Spread a thin coating of Silicone sealant on the patch with a slightly thicker bead just inside the edge.
Place a 2nd patch without sealant UNDER the damaged area.
Place the patch with the sealant on the damage with a fair bit of overlap on the good part.
Press firmly to force the sealant onto/into the original canvas.
Press the silicone bead towards the edge until it comes out from under the patch
Use the excess sealant squeezed out from under patch onto the edge of the patch so that it is not exposed.
If possible remove patch on back at this stage.and smooth the edges of the damaged area.
Let the silicone sealant set and cure.
You now have a patch that is waterproof, strong, and FLEXIBLE. (most important)
Alternatively if it is a clean cut or rip, the patch can be put on the inside of the item, and put a little smear of sealant over the outside edges .
THIS IS A GUIDE ONLY and will not Guarantee success in all circumstances, there are many variables that can affect the performance and success rate but this will cover the majority of cases.
