This listing is for a very early bound printing of "A Visit From St. Nicholas," dated 1837-1838. This rare and impressive printing is one of the earliest and no doubt the largest, measuring a huge 11 x 14.5 inches with 208 pages. Construction is hardcover, dark blue leather over boards with gilt titles. The poem is accompanied by a humorous introductory paragraph with one of the first author attributions to Clement C. Moore. The book is about literature and fine arts during that period. At 188 years old, it is in excellent condition overall. The covers were beautifully rebound and have minimal wear. The first few pages show foxing (typically caused by the frontispiece plate), but after that, the pages are very nice. The frontis tissue is intact. Binding is tight. The poem is on page 207.
