This listing is for a vintage KNUCKLEHEAD ventriloquist doll made by Juro Novelty in the early 1950s. Measuring 24 inches tall, it is Juro's very first Knucklehead doll, made using composition head and hands, which was the standard material for dolls at the time. Overall, it is in good condition with the original clothes and shoes and a working mouth. Juro modelled the clothes after Knucklehead's early outfit, see promo photo above.
As you may know, these particular composition dolls are prone to crazing and chipping. This one fared reasonably well, though on closer inspection you will see rudimentary repairs to the composition, mostly at the top and sides of the head where the inner halves meet. The face is still very nice, with almost 100% paint and just a bit of crazing. The head and hands are still sound, but like all composition dolls, it should be handled with care for obvious reasons.
The rubber band inside the head was replaced with a spring, so you don't have to worry about repairs in the future. The mouth works reasonably well, as these composition vent dolls go. A nice example, rare to find in any condition. NOTE: This is a consignment. Please DON’T purchase it if you do not understand the condition described above or if you are going to claim "not as described" because it was purchased in error. I'm a trusted eBay seller since 1997 and try to balance the needs of my buyers and consignors. Sorry to have to include this—just trying to avoid complications. Thanks for looking!
