Estate of Allen from DE Dairy
Item Description
Here is a nice book entitled, "Genealogical and Heraldic Dictionary of the Peerage and Baronetage of the British Empire" by Sir Bernard Burke for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself!
What makes this book special is that the author did a handwritten note to a previous owner, a J H Tristram. Done on paper from, "The Castle Dublin" in September 1877. Very cool. Affixed to the inside first blank marbled page of the book.
The book came from the estate of an Allen whom once ran a milk dairy in Delaware, that was a serious book collector. Many other books from his collection will to be offered in our online store over the next few days.
This fine Antique Book is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end auction house or gallery. We have been selling fine items out of our home for over 35 years. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the higher end houses and galleries pass on to their clients.
Nice 28th edition rendering of this book printed in 1866 by Harrison. Written by Sir Bernard Burke.
The title page is securely attached in the book. Reddish pebbled leather hardcovers. Gold colored lettering on the spine. Some moderate loss to the covers and spine finish over the years. Some minor crackling of the leather by the hinges Cannot say if these are the original hardcovers or not. The sides of the pages are smooth cut. The name of a previous owner is written in ink, on one of the front blank pages.
The pages of this book are in good shape. Not brittle or coming apart, still have lots of flexibility. Some minor soiling in places, but no parts or full pages missing that we have identified. The books were stored well over the years. Some minor foxing, browning and soiling to the pages from use and age.
The book has the hardcovers. The covers are loosely attached to the spine. The spine cover is loose from the binding, still attached to front cover, so needs some attention. No musty or mildew smell to the books. Some soiling/watermarks on the first few pages of the book, including the title page. The pages are still bound together.
The book is 10-1/8" tall, by 6-5/8" across, by approximately 3-1/8" wide. The book is 1,322 pages in length. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Don’t be shy to make an
offer, we are always open to reasonable suggestions.
