B17 Flying Fortress - Boeing B17 Flying Fortress is the icon of the strategic daylight bombing concept of WW2. It earned a mythic reputation for its ability to absorb catastrophic battle damage and still return home safely.

CDkit LIFE SIZE panel width is a little over 54 inches in width, adding the fire box is 62 inches overall.

B17C – crews of the B17C fought with what they had.

The RAF operated B17Cs as Fortress Mk I. Six months before Pearl Harbor, they launched a high ALT attack against Wilhelmshaven, Germany. The C model was sensitive to European cold weather and it had insufficient defense against Luftwaffe interceptors.

US Army Air Corps B17Cs flew across the Pacific to reinforce the Philippines. These and those at Pearl Harbor were mostly destroyed on the first day of WW2 for the US.

B17F/G – were upgrade of the interim B17E. B17F and B17G were the most heavily produced and combat-tested of all. Both had a clear nose cone.

B17F had only a single or twin hand-held .50cal. Brownings. Luftwaffe pilots quickly exploited this weak forward firepower by launching deadly head-on attacks. B17G solved this with its chin turret.
