Our Insight on the Eaton 9PX Family
The Eaton 9PX is Eaton's flagship online UPS family and is especially popular in medical environments. Within the 1-6 kVA range, GreenLight sees the 5 kVA and 6 kVA models as the strongest values. Affordable external battery packs make economical long-runtime configurations possible, while Eaton's complete line of reasonably priced transformers and bypass cabinets provides useful installation flexibility.
The dual-voltage transformer ecosystem is particularly strong and, in GreenLight's view, better developed than APC's comparable offering. Buyers evaluating the wider 5-20 kVA range should understand an important distinction: although the system is sold as modular, in practice it behaves more like a large non-modular UPS. That limitation should be weighed against the platform's online protection, medical-market acceptance, runtime economics, and broad accessory support.
The 9PX is most compelling when a customer needs a premium online UPS with affordable extended runtime and flexible transformer or bypass options, especially in the value-rich 5-6 kVA portion of the family.
