1950-51 Variant of the CKO Kellermann Volkswagen VW Beetle Flip‑Top Cabriolet Tin Wind-Up Car from the U.S. Zone Germany. The car retains the original driver, steering wheel, windshield and flip top action is functional. The 6.25" car does retain the wind-up mechanism, however, upon testing the clockwork, it isn't functional. There is a short advancement of the wheels when turned by hand, no tension to the spring when trying to wind. Also, the flip top lever, though have could spring tension, is apparently disconnected as it won't advance to top to being opened/closed though the top freely moves between closed and open by hand. Conditionally, the paint has a bit of rub/scuff/chip and aging patina to the finish, yet overall it displays well to the exterior, interior and to the driver also. The wheels remain attached to the windup gears and move accordingly, Also the front wheels are freely coasting. The bumper are both intact and the underside of the car is soundly attached to the body. Aside, from its' mechanical issues, it is a well preserved toy and one that displays handsomely for its age.
