This c1882 Straits Settlements 10 Cents,
struck in silver during the reign of Queen Victoria,
features her crowned portrait on the obverse and
the denomination within a beaded circle on the reverse,
inscribed in English, Chinese and Malay-derived Jawi script.

Issued for the British-controlled Straits Settlements of Singapore, Penang and Malacca,
it is an attractive piece of 19th-century Southeast Asian colonial coinage,
increasingly collectable for its historical connection
to the early monetary history of Singapore and the region.
