This 1910 Australian Six Pence, struck in .925 sterling silver,

belongs to the first Commonwealth silver coinage

issued shortly after Australia assumed responsibility for its own national currency.

The reverse displays the early Australian coat of arms with kangaroo and emu

supporters beneath the word SIXPENCE,

while the obverse bears the crowned portrait of King Edward VII.

Issued for only this single year with Edward VII’s portrait,

the 1910 sixpence is an important and highly collectable first-year type in Australian numismatics,

particularly desirable in well-preserved condition.
