• HJ EDDISON STAMPS & POSTAL HISTORY

  •  Global Classics, Rarities & Specialised Collections

  • Provenance: Ex Adolph Koeppel Collection, accompanied by a vintage typed exhibition note highlighting its unlisted philatelic status.

  • The Promissory Note: A printed Hebrew financial promissory note (Shtar), executed in 1933, connected to the "Halva'ah VeHisachon" (Loan and Savings Society) operating in Jaffa/Tel Aviv.

  • The Franking (The Philatelic Highlight): The front of the note bears two distinct types of fiscal application:
  • O.P.D.A. Provisionals: Two orange E.E.F. 5m postage stamps, both overprinted with the mandate-era O.P.D.A. 5 Mil. provisional tax.
  • Unlisted Embossed Revenues: Two highly unusual, imperforate blue paper seals featuring an embossed Star of David (Shield of David) design.

  • The Mystery: As Koeppel’s original typewritten research note states, these specific embossed shield revenues are "not even mentioned in any stamp catalogue or readily available philatelic reference materials" and represent a localized, undocumented fiscal usage in 1930s Palestine.
