This Underwood Standard 4- Bank Portable Manual typewriter is an extraordinary piece both with the finish in a dark woodgrain and its operation. I was pleasantly surprised at its usability. It is an estate find and its serial number, 4B125242, puts it at 1928. This is within the period before Underwood added a left platen knob. It does have wear to the finish at contact points from use. It suggests frequent use but types like new. It is a great piece and functions without any issue. It is a serious collector's find. The case is in decent condition with a few nicks but nothing serious. The leather handle had been replaced with a functional piece of webbing. It has an inner configuration that would make it easily refurbished. It includes the original manual that is intact but binding leaving some sections loose.
