Platter 10" Silverplate / Goldplate Rim - Atelier Zurich
Pre-Owned in Very Good Condition!
For your consideration, one unusual silverplated platter / tray with goldplated woven edge trim. Makers mark on back is worn but it appears to be "Atelier Zurich" with the umlaut over the "u". The mark is in cursive and looks almost hand engraved, something you don't see very often.The word "atelier" means "a studio especially for an artist or designer" so this probably was designed and or made by a artist and / or small art studio in Zurich.
The platter is 10.25" (about 26 cm) in diameter. On the outside bottom edge there are six spheres that are about 3/16ths in diameter spaced equally around the rim. This piece has no dings or dents.The top "serving" surface has some small scratches there is no base metal showing through the silverplate anywhere on this piece.The "woven" gold braid trim has minute crazing on every strand.
Overall a very well made piece which I believe has European (Swiss?) origins, though again my research has come up with "nada". Likewise the age is unknown it's condition and style makes me believe it was made sometime in the last 30 years.
