FYI: I just shipped a bat and the charges from all three major carriers - FEDEX, UPS and USPS were OVER $30!!! It's crazy but the reality! :( 

This is an awesome game-used bat from the 1980-83 era...a black Louisville Slugger R43  swung by then lefthanded-hitter  Detroit Tigers leftfielder Steve Kemp! If you recall, Kemp was the first overall selection in the 1976 MLB Draft by the Tigers and was a solid mainstay in left field for Detroit until he was traded to the Chicago White Sox for centerfielder Chet Lemon on Nov. 27, 1981. The trade was crushing to many Tigers fan who loved Kemp's hustle and clutch hitting and pleasant demeanor...but Detroit needed a centerfielder so the trade was made, and Lemon was a mainstay for the Tigers' 1984 World Championship drive.  

The barrel has a "cupped" area at the top of the bat. 

Kemp's career transactions: 

January 7, 1976: Drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 1st round (1st pick) of the 1976 amateur draft (January).

November 27, 1981: Traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Chicago White Sox for Chet Lemon.

November 10, 1982: Granted Free Agency.

December 9, 1982: Signed as a Free Agent with the New York Yankees.

December 20, 1984: Traded by the New York Yankees with Tim Foli and cash to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Dale Berra, Jay Buhner and Alfonso Pulido.

May 8, 1986: Released by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

June 22, 1986: Signed as a Free Agent with the San Diego Padres.

September 18, 1986: Released by the San Diego Padres.

March 4, 1987: Signed as a Free Agent with the Texas Rangers.

October 15, 1987: Released by the Texas Rangers.

January 19, 1988: Signed as a Free Agent with the Texas Rangers.

May 25, 1988: Released by the Texas Rangers.

June 9, 1988: Signed as a Free Agent with the Texas Rangers.
