DESCRIPTION

A Japanese Arita porcelain bowl decorated in a colorful wucai-style palette with prominent Buddhist lion motifs. The exterior features cobalt blue lions surrounded by green flame-like forms, flowing iron-red ribbons and auspicious emblems, with restrained gilt enamel accents. Double blue lines frame the rim and lower body, while the raised circular foot gives the bowl a balanced traditional profile. The lively mythical imagery and strong contrasting colors create an attractive example of late 19th century Japanese decorative porcelain.

COLLECTOR'S NOTE
