Antique Tiffany and Company Sterling Silver Creamer Applied Florals

Presented is an antique sterling silver creamer made by Tiffany and Company, of beautiful, heavy gauge quality, particularly heavy for its size. A continuous band of applied decoration encircles the body, featuring flowers, a wreath, and other naturalistic leaf motifs. The feet are joined to the body with an applied acanthus leaf motif, and the rim features a continuous applied wave pattern.

The exterior, and likely the interior as well, appears to have originally been fully gilded, though the majority of the gilding, roughly 80 percent, has worn away over time, with only traces remaining in a few protected areas.

The piece is hallmarked on the base with Tiffany and Company's marks, the sterling designation, and the letter M mark used during the presidency of Edward Moore, in use from about 1873 to 1891, placing this piece confidently within that range. The base is also marked with a capacity of 2 gills, equivalent to 8 fluid ounces.

The creamer measures 3 1/2 inches tall to the top of the handle, with a maximum body diameter of 3 1/8 inches.

Condition is excellent apart from the worn gilding described above. There are no cracks, repairs, breaks, dents, or dings, and there is no monogram or evidence of a monogram having been removed.

Weight is 7.83 ounces, or 222 grams.
