This auction is for a high-quality modern reprint of the vintage WWII Navy manual entitled "Naval Aviators' Course 2", NAVPERS 10810, 1949, 359p. There were a few color plates in the original. These have been reproduced in full color, hand-matched to the original hues. The print quality of the original was not great, but I have enhanced the halftone images as much as possible to bring back as much of the original depth as possible. This appears to be a rewrite of a consolidation of maybe a dozen different Naval Aviation instruction books from the WWII era. It has been brought up-to-date with the introduction of jet engines. Also unusual is the full chapter on lighter-than-air craft, with a surprisingly deep discussion of Airship Aerodynamics. Main sections include the following. Aircraft Operations, Aircraft Instruments, Aircraft Guns and Bombs, Rockets, Torpedoes and Mines, Antisubmarine Warfare, Fighter Tactics, Carrier Operations, Parachuts, and much, much more.

These are not your grandmother's scans. Every page has been hand-corrected to remove as many blemishes as possible. Color correction with a known color standard sheet was used to get the colors as close to the original as possible. Special care was taken with the half-tone images to make sure all the depth and range of the originals is preserved. Manuals are printed on 24 lb paper and comb-bound with clear plastic front cover and black plastic back sheet. (please note - the comb-binding is NOT like the original stapled binding - this is not an exact duplicate of the way the original manual was made. It is a modern printing where each page has been scanned, printed in full color and high resolution, and faithfully reproduced - then bound together with acetate covers and comb binding).
