Here we have a superb antique silver plated champagne bottle coaster/cooler. This would date to around the late 19th century and is Rococo Regency revival in style. It is extremely decorative, with areas of gentle wear revealing the rich copper beneath the silver plating, producing a wonderful contrast of tones. The pierced body features repeated geometric and foliate decoration, producing a wonderful fretwork effect. The elaborate twin handles are particularly attractive, with scrolled foliate detail to the top and scallop shell motifs to the ends. There body has reeded decoration and the rim is finished with a gadrooned edge. It is of excellent quality and I am surprised there are no makers marks; I have seen a fairly similar piece by Walker & Hall so it could be by them. It measures approximately 6.5 inches by 6.5 inches by 5.5 inches and would make look fantastic displayed behind the bar in a swanky cocktail bar or home bar or cabinet. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
