Pair of Antique English Silver Plate Classical Candlesticks 12 Inches Tall
Presented is a beautiful pair of antique English silver plate candlesticks in classical form, dating to the late eighteen hundreds or first quarter of the nineteen hundreds. The candlesticks feature a square column form throughout, never transitioning to a round shaft, rising from a square base into a top section with a draped element and extensive beaded decoration. Each side of the base bears an oval medallion, three finished with a full three hundred sixty degree fan shaped design, and the fourth left blank for a monogram or crest, which has never been engraved. The fan motif is echoed near the top of each candlestick below the socle, with beaded decoration marking the transitions throughout the design as the form rises and changes shape. No maker's mark is present.
The candlesticks measure 12 inches in height, with square bases measuring 4 3/4 inches on each side.
Condition shows no breaks and no repairs. As expected on silver plate of this age, copper shows through at the high points and edges from wear.
