1955 Chinese Rongbaozhai “Shi Jian Pu” — Two Volumes, 80 Colour Woodblock Prints
This is a fine example of 20th-century Chinese traditional woodblock printing, produced by the famous Beijing art and stationery house Rongbaozhai (荣宝斋). The work is known as Beijing Rongbaozhai Xin Ji Shi Jian Pu and was published in 1955.
The set consists of two traditionally thread-bound volumes, housed together in a decorative brocade-covered folding case. The books measure approximately 31.5 × 22.5 cm. The 1955 edition contains 80 colour woodblock prints.
The prints reproduce Chinese painting designs originally created by prominent artists, including Qi Baishi and Zhang Daqian, together with works by other artists. Subjects include flowers, birds, insects, fish, landscapes and other traditional Chinese motifs
