Presented is a fine old English Georgian silverplate chamberstick candle holder. This is a wonderful Sheffield fused plate piece dating to around the 1820s, possibly older. The rim is done in a classical shell and scroll design, heavily cast and applied in sterling silver, matching the design of the bobeche/wax drip. The bobeche is removable for ease of cleaning. The thumbpiece of the handle is ornate, with a cartouche for a monogram (never engraved). There is a space for a snuffer and for a wick trimmer, but we do not have these. They are fairly standardized however, and could easily be added.

The inside of the socle is stamped “Silver edges” for the heavy applied sterling silver edging of the piece.

This piece is in excellent overall condition. There is no wear through the silver plating that I can find. There is an old solder repair where the handle meets the body, but this is very hard to notice without close inspection. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no other repairs.

This chamberstick measures about 7 inches from handle to opposite side and about 4 1/4 inches tall.
