BEEN IN STORAGE SINCE THE EARLY 70'S
The Auto Mamiya/Sekor 55mm f/1.4 is a premium, ultra-fast standard prime lens manufactured in Japan during the late 1960s and 1970s. It is widely celebrated in the vintage film community for its massive maximum aperture, all-metal construction, and signature painterly background blur.
The Tomioka Optical Heritage
Optical historians and collectors widely believe this specific f/1.4 lens was manufactured for Mamiya by Tomioka Optical. Tomioka was a legendary Japanese lens producer famous for engineering some of the sharpest high-speed glass of the era. Because of this heritage, the lens delivers a distinct look: a razor-thin depth of field with a soft, dreamy "creamy" bokeh wide open at f/1.4, which sharpens dramatically into an incredibly crisp image as you stop down toward f/5.6 and f/8.
