The 2016/17 season was a strong campaign for the New York Rangers, who recorded a 48–28–6 regular-season record and 102 points under head coach Alain Vigneault. Mats Zuccarello led the team with 59 regular-season points, while Chris Kreider scored a team-high 28 goals and Henrik Lundqvist remained the established presence in goal. The campaign represented the Rangers' seventh consecutive appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and formed part of a sustained period of postseason success for the franchise.
