About Canadian Price Variant Comics (CPV):
CPVs are much rarer than Direct Editions and US Newsstand copies. Estimates suggest CPVs represent less than 2% of surviving copies from their print runs due to the Canadian population at the time and their much smaller distribution system, compared to the approximately 80% survival rate for Direct Editions, and approximately 18% for Newsstand copies. CPVs account for approximately 3% of CGC graded Marvel and DC according to CGC census data. Their original low print runs and high return rates (stores returned the covers for credit and the unsold copies were routinely trashed) make high-grade CPVs especially scarce and highly desirable.
