The 2017/18 season was a transitional campaign for the Orlando Magic, who finished with a 25–57 record under head coach Frank Vogel while continuing to develop a young core. Aaron Gordon produced the strongest season of his Orlando career to that point, averaging career highs of 17.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game and establishing himself as one of the franchise's central players. The season also marked the beginning of Nike's NBA uniform partnership, with Orlando introducing its blue Icon Edition kit as the successor to the traditional road uniform. Featuring the Magic's signature pinstripes, the Icon design represented the franchise's established blue identity during Gordon's breakout 2017/18 campaign.
