Description

A dark-coloured cast-metal figurine modelled as a standing bull, with an elongated muscular body, raised head and four individually formed legs. The figure is three-dimensional and appears to have been produced by casting, with modelling and incised detail incorporated into the surface.

The bull has a broad chest, slightly arched back and narrowing hindquarters. The legs are slightly splayed and terminate in simplified flattened hoof forms. The neck rises steeply into an elongated head with a broad muzzle and slightly open mouth.

Two tall, rounded horn forms project from the top of the head, with smaller projecting forms positioned to either side. Shallow modelling defines the eyes, nose and facial structure.

Incised and relief-worked lines decorate the head, neck, shoulders and flanks. Closely spaced grooves around the neck suggest hair or folds, while longer irregular lines across the body emphasise the musculature and contours of the animal.

The tail curves downwards from the hindquarters before turning upwards to form an open loop beside the rear leg. The terminal section broadens slightly.

The style and construction are consistent with mid- to late-20th-century decorative animal sculpture. Bull figures of this type were produced as small freestanding ornaments for domestic display, with the animal represented through simplified anatomical modelling rather than naturalistic surface detail.
