Original 8" x 10" photograph pulled from a Fruehauf Trailer Company salesman sample catalog, containing hundreds of original photographs, most stamped by Smith Brothers Commercial Photographers of Detroit, Michigan. This particular photo features glossy finish, vivid detail, and would look excellent when framed. The photo was removed from a vintage album and shows some glue and paper residue on the back, along with minor backing thinning from removal. None of these issues affect the visual appeal from the front. Please note: This auction is only for the photo shown in the first image. History of Glenn L. Bancroft Truck Company

The Glenn L. Bancroft Truck Company was a trucking business operating in Flint, Michigan, by the mid-twentieth century. The company was owned or operated by Glenn L. Bancroft and maintained a terminal or garage at a building numbered 409.

The surviving photograph shows that the company used heavy Chevrolet trucks and detachable freight bodies. These removable containers could be supported on their own landing gear while the truck chassis was driven away, allowing freight bodies to be loaded or stored separately. The container in the photograph is marked Glenn L. Bancroft and carries company identification number 137D.

Glenn L. Bancroft was also involved in agriculture and owned Bancroft Acres near Swartz Creek, Michigan. Contemporary livestock records document him as a breeder and purchaser of registered dairy cattle. However, no dependable evidence has been found showing that the trucking company specialized in hauling cattle, dairy products, or farm supplies, so the exact type of freight it carried remains uncertain.

The company appears to have ceased operating before the era of modern online federal trucking records. No verified connection has been found between Glenn L. Bancroft Truck Company and any present-day trucking business using the Bancroft name.

A charitable trust established under Glenn L. Bancroft’s name later supported educational, medical, and community organizations in the Flint area.
