Photo GORGE AT VICTORIA FALLS SOUTH AFRICA C1910 Magic Lantern Slide NO56
One of a number of slides I am listing that when I purchased them were attributed to a Jeremiah close that show his trip to South Africa.
Jeremiah was born in 1851 and died in 1910.
He worked as a coal miner initially aged 11 ( 1861 census ) Rising to an undermanger at the Pretoria Pit in Atherton Lancashire. It is believed he took his family to South Africa between 1907 and 1910. A number of the slides related to the Kimberley mines so it was likely a work trip. He died in 1910 aged 59.
The number in the title represents the order number of the slide.
If the slide is watermarked " ebay " in the image it will not be watermarked when received - see photo 2

The slide consists of two glass plates, the image is applied to the first plate and a second covers this to protect the image. The slide normally has a inner paper border and then the slide is then held together with edging paper.
