John Fedko was a creative magician, lecturer, and magic dealer who was quite popular in the 1970's and 1980's.
Mind Blank was Fedko's version of the classic 1-in-10 card prediction, but in Fedko's handling, he removed the 2-way out, and also added a magical climax where all the cards (except the chosen one) turn to blank faces.
Effect: After putting a red backed prediction card on the table, you show a blue backed packet of ten cards, and then deal them into two rows -- one facedown, and one faceup. The spectator narrows down the cards, ending on one of the faceup cards. The others are picked up and set aside in facedown packet. The back of the chosen card is now shown to be red backed, just like the prediction. The prediction is now shown to have the same face as the chosen card -- they match on both face and back, Then to close, the packet of nine blue backed cards is spread faceup to show all blank faces!
Surprisingly easy to do -- only one standard card sleight used (which could be eliminated without taking much away from the overall impact). Typical of Fedko's magic, which emphasized strong effects created without a lot of knuckle busting sleights.
Fedko originally issued this through his own magic company in the 1980's, but this is a licensed version put out in 1998 by Mantle Magic Mfg. It features Bicycle backed poker sized cards.
