This is volume 3 only of Lord Macaulay's History of England (from the accession of James the second) printed by Spottiswood & Co. New-Street Square, London in 1866.
The book is in very bad condition, with no cover at all. The marbled endpaper & subsequent 2 pages have broken free from the spine.
Both endpapers are missing corners and there is some light foxing to first few and last few pages. Aside from that, the book is otherwise structurally sound and appears to be a complete volume. It measures 18.5 x 12.5 x 3.5 cm.
Why list such a rotten old thing, I hear you ask?
Inside this sad-looking book is a small inscription which reads:

From the few Scottish genealogical records that I have access to, I believe that this MAY therefore be from the library of Robert Kerr, the prominent sugar refiner at Greenock from 1860s to 1880s.
A Robert Kerr is understood to have undertaken a partnership with Abram Lyle in 1865 forming the Glebe Sugar Refining Company. Lyle later went on to establish the famous Tate & Lyle sugar company.
This tatty book is therefore sold for genealogy/local history interest rather than for condition or quality of content.
