Vintage 1960 Photo Carlisle PA High School Junior Varsity Football Team

Great item if one of your family members is in photo.

See photos.

The first photo has been updated by CHATGPT to show each name as is handwritten on the back.

PHOTOS 2 through 14 are the actual unretouched photo.

Framed by Miller's Craft Shop, 412 A Street, Carlisle, PA, which was in business during the 1950s–1960s.

The handwriting on the back says:

1960 Carlisle High School JV football team's record published in the 1961 Oracle yearbook.

Even more convincing, many of the handwritten names match the published 1960 JV roster almost exactly:

Historical significance

This is a feeder team for one of Carlisle's greatest football eras.

The 1960 varsity went undefeated and won the South Penn Conference championship under legendary coach Ken Millen. Several players from your JV photo—including Bob Nye, Gary Owens, Guy Hagerty, Tom Lane, Sam Hockley, Dave Halpin, and others—later moved up to those outstanding Carlisle teams.

Two notable players

The handwritten notes also identify:

Those two players were apparently absent from the team photo but were added to the roster afterward.
