Offered for sale is a Zeiss Ikon Contax S (one of the first EYE-LEVEL automatic reflex cameras with the pentaprism) with a small D manufactured in Dresden Germany. This early Contax S was manufactured during the occupation after WW II. Zeiss Ikon factory was in Dresden (East Germany). This historical Contax S with a small D 35mm SLR film camera with a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 2.8/50  lens is very rare and hard to find and still in working condition but shutter speeds are not tested for accuracy. The self timer works. The pentaprism is clean. The lens looks it’s from the same era.

The Contax S underwent 6 different design changes with the first model. The first 4 was attempted to be transparent to the customer but the last two had a small upper case “D” on the front of the prism housing under the Zeiss Ikon lens cell trademark but it still considered to be a Contax S camera. (All my cameras have been cleaned professionally, they are very clean including this camera).

The camera's focus is smooth. The lens is clean overall, with some dust present due to age. There is no fungus, haze, separation, or oil on the aperture blades.

The viewfinder has some haze present. No fungus is forming in the pentaprism.

The self-timer is working. The shutter fires, but shutter accuracy has not been tested or guaranteed. The second shutter curtain has some creasing.

The camera has not been film tested and is being sold AS IS.
