What is Full Grain Leather?
The Max Carry IWB Full Grain Leather Holster is constructed of the highest quality leather. Full Grain leather is made of the entire top layer of the hide and is considered the best quality, strongest, and most durable leather that exists. It resists scratching, tearing, peeling that happens with lower quality leathers and holds its shape/mold over time even after prolonged daily use. It also gets better with age; grain gets darker and develops character, and looks even better over time. Full grain leather keeps natural pores intact and that allows more airflow and more breathability for a more comfortable holster. This means this holster will last you a lifetime, will only getter better looking with age, and will retain its shape better and have less collapse when re-holstering over time.
The unique two-piece design allows for a slimmer profile, and minimal printing for ultimate concealability. The leather conforms/molds to your body over time for comfortable all-day carry (no hard plastic/Kydex digging into your body). The interior is leather and protects the gun surfaces from scuffs and scratches. The holster also includes a full length sweat guard that features a high back that provides a barrier between your body and the gun (no more cold metal pressing up against your skin). The belt clip is made of tempered spring steel and creates a strong yet flexible belt clip that clips on and off your belt easily. Clip fits belt widths up to 1.75" inches (45 mm). This holster can be worn in the following positions....
- Strong Side Hip - 3 or 4 o'clock position (9 or 8 o’clock for left handed shooters/models)
- Appendix Carry - 1 or 2 o'clock position (11 or 10 o’clock for left handed shooters/models)
- Cross Draw - 9 or 10 o'clock position (3 or 4 o’clock for left handed shooters/models)
- Small of Back Carry - 6 o'clock position (Same position for right/left handed shooters)
Take special note that for Small of Back PALM OUT Draw (6 o'clock position) you need to purchase the opposite hand holster. For example, if you are right-handed and want to wear the holster in the small of back position at 6 o'clock, but want to draw the gun with your palm facing out away from your body, you need to buy a left-handed holster. And vice versa for left-handed shooters. If you are left-handed and want to draw from your back with your palm facing away from your body, then you need to purchase a right-handed holster.
This holster is NOT meant to carry outside the waistband like a police duty holster. This is an IWB holster. IWB means Inside the Waistband. That means the entire gun and holster are worn inside your pants with only the metal belt clip worn on the outside of your pants attached to your belt.

How to break-in a leather holster
Maxx Carry Full Grain Leather Holsters are made of the strongest full grain cowhide natural leather. They are hand-made and molded. If you've never used real full grain molded leather holsters before, know that gun fit may be tight out of the box and may require a brief break in period to get that perfect fit & comfort. But after a short break in period they mold to your gun and body beautifully. To effectively break in your new holster, please ensure your firearm is unloaded and there are no rounds in the chamber before following these instructions. Here are a few techniques we recommend to speed up the break in period or get a looser retention if you desire:
Following these steps below should help with the breaking-in process.
Initial Work: Most of the time, just inserting the gun in and out of the holster forcefully several times is all that is required. Also, you can insert your fingers into the bottom opening of the holster and apply pressure to gently pry it apart. Our holsters are designed to be sturdy, so don't hesitate to use some force. Spend about a minute working on the bottom, and then repeat the process at the top for approximately 20 seconds. If you notice any specific area where the gun gets stuck or hangs up inside the holster, push from the inside at that spot. Try inserting the firearm. If necessary, repeat this step a second time.
Break-in Gradually Method: Also, over a short time with regular wear, the holster will naturally break in gradually and mold to your firearm perfectly. When you get a new leather holster, break it in gradually by using it regularly with your firearm. This helps the leather stretch & mold to the shape of your gun and body for a perfect fit.
That is all that is required most of the time to get that perfect fit and retention. But if desire even looser retention, you can follow the additional steps below to expand the holster even more, but not required.
Plastic Bag Method: Take a plastic grocery bag or zip-lock bag and wrap it tightly around your unloaded firearm, paying extra attention to creating a thicker and bulkier wrap around the front sight and barrel. Fully insert the wrapped gun into the holster and leave it overnight. Keep in mind that removing the firearm from the holster may be a bit challenging after this step. However, once you unwrap the firearm and place it back in the holster, it should fit more comfortably.
Wax Paper Method: Wrap your unloaded firearm in wax paper with the wax side facing outward (away from the gun). Gently rub the wrapped firearm on the inside of the holster. Deeply seat the wrapped firearm in the holster and leave it overnight. The next morning, draw the still-wrapped firearm from the holster a few times to allow the wax to coat the inside of the holster. If you want more expansion/stretch, use more than one layer of plastic bag wrapped around the gun.
