Early 1879 one page autographed letter to a young singer, Paris October 26, 1879.  We offer with an original 3.5" x 5" Woodbury type photograph of the composer contemporary to the letter.

Massenet praises the "kind memory" of the young ladies talent and then invites her to a gathering at Madame Capron's home.

Massenet completed his opera "Herodiade" in 1879 which was first rejected by the Paris Opera, so he moved the World Premiere to the Theatre Monnaie in Brussels in December, 1881 for 55 performances then onto La Scala in February, 1882.  It did not reach Paris until a Theatre du Ville performance in 1884.  His first great success!
