About The Sourdough Labs
Born from a passion for science and perfected through artisanal craft, The Sourdough Labs combines the precision of a chemistry lab with the creativity of the kitchen. During my PhD in chemical engineering, a pandemic hobby transformed into a deep passion for sourdough baking. Frustrated by the weakness of store-bought starters, I began experimenting with wild yeasts to create a starter that was resilient and reliable.
After years of testing, I created Steve the Sourdough Starter—a strong, adaptable culture with a hint of sweetness. Steve is designed to thrive in any recipe, from quick bakes to long ferments, offering consistent and delicious results every time.
What began as a personal project has flourished into a thriving business. At The Sourdough Labs, our mission is to empower home bakers by providing high-quality starters that make baking sourdough bread a joyful, rewarding experience. Together, we’ll make magic—one loaf at a time!
